History
The founder of Ming Chuan University (MCU) Teh-Ming Pao realized that education is the foundation of the country and can build national prosperity.
In order to improve education, we need continuous research and development. In accordance with that belief, MCU established a Teacher Education Center in 1996 under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education (MOE).
With rich educational resources, MCU was accredited to found Graduate School of Education (GSE) in 2001 under its School of Social Sciences. Later, in 2011, the School of Education and Applied Languages was established and GSE became a part of that from the 1st of August, 2011. GSE has been founded more than 20 years.
GSE was accredited to enroll ten students per academic year from 2001. In compliance with the regulations, the student cohort number decreased to eight from 2011.
From 2017, GSE was accredited to enroll ten students per academic year. We expect to cultivate students’ talents for educational research and practices and to meet teachers’ needs at primary and secondary schools.
The Ministry of Education approved GSE to establish in-service programs in Taipei (2003), Taoyuan (2010) and Kinmen (2013) to promote teachers’ further study and benefit local teachers.
GSE is accredited to enroll 30 students in Taipei and Taoyuan respectively and 15 students in Kinmen each year in the program.
In 2006, Lian Chiang County Government (Fu Jen Province) made a request to MOE for teachers’ continuing education and further study.
The institution continued to follow Founder Pao’s educational philosophy of “ attending to all students with parental care, support, and guidance”, There were 20 students enrolled per academic year for a in-service program in Lian Chiang in 2006 and 2007.
The institution has stopped recruiting students since 2008.
Since 2016 school year, GSE recruited 10 students for its master's degree program in Taoyuan and 75 students in the in-service program in Taipei, Taoyuan and Kinmen. GSE has recruited 146 students in total.
